What to expect from our Interior Design services.

Our services start with an initial consulation. The pupose of this consultation is to develop an understanding of the goals for your project and develop a design brief. During this consultation we will discuss with you your goals for the space, your budget expectations and your thoughts around materials and finishes. The consultations usually lasts between 1 and 2 hours.

If we feel we are a good fit for your project, we then go away and develop a design proposal. This will include a confirmation of your brief, to ensure that we have understood your goals, a summary of the services that we recommend and a price estimate for our services.

Once you have accepted our proposal we will move into the Schematic Design phase. This is where we will measure up your space (if required) and start to develop conceptual ideas that meet your goals. These ideas could be presented as a combination of sketches, 3D elevations, images/photographs and/or samples. Once we are confident that we have a schematic design that you will be happy to consider, we will set up a meeting with you to present our ideas.

At this meeting we will be listening carefully and asking you about the aspects of our design concepts that you like and those that you may like to change. We will go into more detail about finishes, sizes of fixtures, things like lighting, placement and ergonomics to ensure that the design is developed to suit your particular needs.

It is important to note that this phase of the project is usually the longest and where we will be investing the most amount of hours.

We then move into the Design Development stage. From the feedback gathered from our Schematic Design meeting we will begin to pull together a Developed Design which will be used for obtaining quotations for construction and installation and/or submission to council for DA (if required). These drawings will include major dimensions, an overview of the major works and draft schedules of fixtures, fittings and finishes.

It is usual that, once trades are involved, there is some requirement to tweak the design. We refer to this as our Working Drawings phase and it is where, once a trade has been engaged by you, we consult with them to achieve the best possible outcome for you. It is also where we compile the drawings for submission in obtaining a construction certificate (if required). The construction drawings will be compiled and will include detailed drawings of joinery/cabinetry/customisations, reflected ceiling plans and electrical plans as required. We will obtain and review all the shop drawings from the trades and conduct site visits to ensure the works are in line with your plans.

To this point a project can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months (or more) depending on the size, level of detail/customisation and timeliness of any involved third parties.

Interior Styling

Once your project has been completed you may like to engage our services to style the space. Styling can include furniture layouts, selections of furniture and textile items, purchasing services or a combination of these. You are free to use your existing furniture or engage us to assist you in purchasing alternative items to fit your space.

If you are considering engaging us for your next project and still have questions about the process, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
